Planning your visit

Make the Most of Your Thistle Springs Experience

Planning a fishing trip is easy with us! We welcome walk-ins, so there's no need to book ahead, just show up when you're ready to fish. Best of all, no fishing license is required, making our pond the perfect destination for spontaneous outings and first-time anglers.

Come prepared for a comfortable and successful day at the pond:

  • Your own fishing gear – If you're an experienced angler with favorite rods and tackle, you're welcome to bring your own equipment. However, if you prefer to travel light, don't worry—we have everything you need available on site.

  • A cooler – Essential for transporting your fresh catch home safely. Make sure it's large enough to accommodate your haul!

  • Sun protection – The hours by the water can add up, so bring sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from UV rays, especially during our summer months.

  • Refreshments – Pack plenty of water to stay hydrated throughout the day, along with snacks or a lunch to keep your energy up while you fish.

  • Weather-appropriate clothing – Check the forecast and dress in layers. Waterproof jackets are helpful for unexpected drizzle, and warm clothing is a must during our cooler winter hours.

What We Provide:

  • Fishing equipment – Quality rods and reels are available for all our guests at no additional charge.

  • Bait and tackle – We supply all the bait and tackle you'll need to land your catch, included with your visit.

  • Fish cleaning assistance – Not sure how to clean your fish? Our knowledgeable staff is happy to help you prepare your catch for the trip home.

  • Ice – We provide ice to keep your fish fresh from the moment they're caught until you get them home.

  • Friendly guidance and tips – Whether you're a beginner or just looking to improve your technique, our experienced staff is always ready to share advice on the best spots, techniques, and tricks to maximize your success.
